High-andean forest and feeding stations

Hacienda El Bosque is a working cattle ranch in Colombia’s Central Andes that protects extensive areas of high-Andean forest as a Civil Society Nature Reserve, part of the country’s protected areas system. Its nature tourism project offers a memorable way to experience the region’s birdlife and mountain landscapes.

The reserve is especially known for its antpitta feeding stations, where visitors may see Equatorial Antpitta and the rare Crescent-faced Antpitta, a sought-after species with a limited range in Ecuador and Colombia. A separate feeding station attracts the charismatic Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan. Other birds of interest include Barred Fruiteater, Andean Guan, White-throated Quail-Dove, and Hooded Mountain-Tanager.

Three feeding areas provide varied opportunities for birdwatching and photography, with setups designed to suit different needs. Cabins and a welcoming restaurant make Hacienda El Bosque a comfortable place to enjoy the surrounding Andean scenery.
